What researcher conducted pioneering controlled human studies on DMT in the early 1990s and wrote DMT: The Spirit Molecule?

Rick Strassman is an American psychiatrist and clinical researcher best known for conducting the first government-approved human studies of DMT in the United States in over 20 years. Between 1990 and 1995 at the University of New Mexico, he administered approximately 400 doses of DMT to nearly 60 volunteers under controlled clinical conditions. His findings and reflections are detailed in his widely read 2001 book DMT: The Spirit Molecule. He is currently a clinical associate professor of psychiatry at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
