🌌 DMT WORLD SKY WATCH — LOOK UP THIS WEEK 🌌 A little community PSA from the ordinary universe, which happens to be doing some exceptionally cool shit right now. Whatever your relationship with psychedelics, consciousness, spirituality or astronomy, this is a very good week to go outside and look up. ☀️ THE SUN IS ACTIVE On Aug. 8, Earth experienced a genuine G2 (Moderate) geomagnetic storm, reaching Kp 6. NOAA is also tracking additional solar eruptions that may reach Earth's neighborhood around Aug. 11–12, possibly producing more geomagnetic activity. ☄️ THE PERSEIDS ARE HERE We're passing through debris left by Comet Swift–Tuttle, producing the annual Perseid meteor shower. The peak is the night of Aug. 12 into the morning of Aug. 13, and conditions this year are excellent because Aug. 12 is also a New Moon—almost no moonlight washing out the meteors. No telescope needed. Find somewhere dark with a wide view of the sky, put the phone away, give your eyes 20–30 minutes to adjust and watch. 🌑 A TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE IS ALSO AUG. 12 Yes. Same day. Totality crosses Greenland, Iceland, northern Spain and other far-northern regions, while a partial eclipse will be visible across a much larger area. What you can see depends on location. Never look directly at a partial solar eclipse without proper eclipse glasses or solar-viewing equipment. ✨ VENUS GETS EXTRA BRIGHT Around Aug. 14–16, Venus reaches greatest eastern elongation. Look low in the western sky after sunset. That ridiculously bright "star" is Venus. 🌕 AND AUGUST ISN'T DONE YET On Aug. 27–28, a deep partial lunar eclipse will be visible from much of the Americas and portions of Europe and Africa. About 93% of the Moon's diameter enters Earth's dark central shadow at maximum. Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse is completely safe to watch with your naked eyes. So this month gives us: Geomagnetic storm → solar activity → New Moon → solar eclipse → Perseid peak → brilliant Venus → lunar eclipse. That's a hell of an August. I'm not attaching a supernatural claim to any of this. The astronomy is spectacular enough. But this community spends an unusual amount of time thinking about consciousness, reality, nature, scale, perspective and whatever the hell this experience of existing actually is. So here's the invitation: Sometime this week, shut everything off. Go somewhere dark. Lie down. Look up. No molecule required.
